Etienne Papin


Etienne began his career in 1999, as an Attorney at the Paris Bar. He practices in the IT, Internet and media sectors.


Etienne advises companies in all areas of technology and production law.

He has 20 years’ experience in providing support to his clients in their IT and internet projects, concerning both the contractual and litigation aspects, in particular during expert appraisals. Etienne advises the IT software and service users and providers for all types of projects: system integration, SaaS, maintenance, development and co-development, user license and license audits, software and database distribution, etc.

In the production, music and edition sector, he is regularly involved in issues relating to copyright, in both the contractual and legal aspects. In particular, he advises live entertainment producers and the film and audiovisual production industries with innovative projects and the protection of their rights.

In the internet sector, he advises companies on the regulatory and contractual aspects for the setup of platforms or online sales services. He assists his clients on the aspects related to the protection of their reputation and their brands on the social networks or search engines.

Etienne has accompanied his clients with all the personal data developments, from the law dated August 6, 2004 to the GDPR.

Etienne has also developed a specific expertise in the issues related to dematerialization, electronic signature and electronic archiving.


Etienne graduated with a postgraduate degree (DEA) in literary, artistic and industrial property (Paris II Panthéon-Assas University) which he was awarded in 1995. In 1996, he completed this specialization in intellectual property by a Diplôme de Juriste Conseil d’Entreprise (DJCE) (corporate lawyer diploma) (Cergy-Pontoise University) specializing in company law, taxation, competition law and employment law.

Etienne was admitted to the Paris Bar in 1999.


He also runs several sessions per year of training on the themes: “Dematerialization and electronic signature” and “Computer Contracts”.

He regularly speaks at current affairs conferences, particularly on the legal issues of dematerialization and electronic evidence.
