Olivier de Courcel is a member of the Paris and New York Bars and specializes in the digital field.  He regularly advises both foreign and French clients on the implementation of information technology, in particular through business law and intellectual property law.


Olivier de Courcel assists multiple actors and users of online services, software and telecommunications. He has acquired extensive experience in the sector, both in supporting technological developments in information systems (SaaS, Big Data, Cloud Computing…) and in major integration, facilities management and outsourcing projects (ERP, offshore, ITO/BPO). Alongside clients or digital services providers (ESN), he negotiates IT services, software licensing and maintenance agreements, as well as development or distribution agreements. He establishes confidentiality policies, IT company regulations, as well as privacy or personal data protection policies.

He regularly advises companies on data management issues (in regard notably to personal data, cybersecurity), licensing and copyright disputes (in particular in software license audits), as well as on e-commerce and consumer law requirements. He assists his clients in the protection of the intangible assets they develop or acquire (due diligence), as well as in their regulatory compliance (data management, GDPR compliance).

In the world of the Internet and the media, Olivier de Courcel regularly deals with issues related to website content, advertising, e-reputation and defamation, digital signature and invoicing, online payments and more generally e-commerce.

In the field of telecommunications, he contributes to investment transactions on operators and networks, both fixed and wireless. He assists companies on interconnection issues, frequency access issues, conditions of use and network management.

Olivier de Courcel works for startups as well as for leading players in their sector. Before joining the bar, he worked in large companies as well as in China and the United States.


Olivier de Courcel is a graduate of the University of Paris II – Assas (Masters 1 in Business Law and Public Law, Master 2 in International Law) and Sciences Po Paris. After a few years in house on a variety of matters, including in relation to the United States, he obtained an LLM. from Columbia Law School and joined the Paris (2002) and the New York Bars (2003).
